Terms and Conditions

When booking a lesson with Workbox Music, the Student (or Student's parent or carer, as applicable) agrees to be bound by the terms and conditions set out below.

1.        Agency

Workbox Music Ltd is an agency acting on behalf of our teachers. By booking lessons through Workbox Music, students enter into a direct contractual relationship with the Teacher. From the point at which you confirm a booking with one of our teachers, we act solely as an intermediary between you and the Teacher. We transmit the relevant details of your purchase to the Teacher, confirm your lessons on behalf of the Teacher and facilitate the payment you make to the Teacher. Please note that we charge the Teacher an agency fee when you purchase their lessons through Workbox Music.  

2. Lessons

Workbox Music Ltd. will provide the lessons at the location agreed upon in writing at the time of booking. The date(s), duration and time(s) of each lesson or block of lessons will be agreed in advance of each lesson or block of lessons by Workbox Music Ltd, the Teacher and the Student (or the Student’s parent or carer, as applicable). These details should be confirmed in writing.

3.        Payment of fees

The Student (or the Student’s parent or carer, as applicable) will pay in full for each lesson or block of lessons in advance of each lesson or block. Payments will be made using the online booking system, via bank transfer to the Workbox Music Ltd. Current Account or by cash in person at the registered office of Workbox Music Ltd.  After payment is received the booking will be confirmed in writing by Workbox Music Ltd.

4.        Pricing

Workbox Music Ltd. may increase the agency fees from time to time and will give written notice of such an increase to the Student (or the Student’s parent or carer, where appropriate) at least one week prior to the increase taking effect. A new price list reflecting such increase will be issued to the Student (or the Student’s parent or carer). Prices for lessons booked prior to any changes in price will be charged at the price agreed upon at time of booking.

5.        Discounts and promotions

From time to time, Workbox Music Ltd. might offer discounted rates for tuition or other promotions. These are valid at the time of offering until the promotion expires or Workbox Music Ltd. ceases to offer the discounted rate. There is no obligation for Workbox Music Ltd. to continue to offer tuition at a discounted rate after a promotion has expired.

6.      Refunds

Once paid, lesson fees are non-refundable except in circumstances where (i) the Teacher or Workbox Music Ltd. cancels a lesson due illness or unavailability and is unable to provide a suitable cover teacher or reschedule the lesson to a time agreed with the Student (or the Student’s parent or carer as applicable). (ii) The Teacher and Workbox Music Ltd. agree to issue a refund due to exceptional circumstances; this is entirely at the discretion of the Teacher and Workbox Music Ltd.

7.        Rescheduling

The Teacher will will reschedule a confirmed lesson to a time that is mutually convenient for the teacher and the Student, if i) the Student (or the Student’s parent or carer as applicable) has given The Teacher and Workbox Music Ltd. at least 24 hours’ written notice. or ii) The Teacher and Workbox Music Ltd. agree to reschedule a lesson with less than 24 hours’ notice given because of exceptional circumstances, this is at the at the discretion of the Teacher and Workbox Music Ltd. If Workbox Music Ltd. cancels a scheduled lesson, the Student (or the Student’s parent or carer) may choose between (i) receiving a replacement lesson or (ii) receiving a refund of the lesson fee (see 6.)

8.      Packages

Before the first lesson of each lesson package, Workbox Music Ltd. will give the Student (or the Student’s parent or carer as applicable) written confirmation of the dates and times of all lessons booked in that package on confirmation of the booking after payment is received in full. 

9.      Teachers

Workbox Music Ltd. will connect a suitable teacher to the Student with the agreement of the Student (or the Student’s parent or carer, as applicable) and the Teacher. Under circumstances where the teacher is not available for a scheduled lesson, the Teacher and Workbox Music Ltd. will endeavour to find a suitable replacement from the pool of Workbox Music teachers. If, for whatever reason, the Student (or the Student’s parent or carer, as applicable) wishes to change teachers, written notice must be sent to the Teacher and Workbox Music Ltd. at least 1 week in advance of the next scheduled lesson.

10.        Examinations, competitions, auditions and public performances

The Student will not be entered for any examination, competition, audition or public performance without the prior written consent of the Teacher, Workbox Music Ltd, and the Student (and the Student’s parent or carer, where applicable). Any fees payable for such examinations, competitions etc., must be paid to Workbox Music Ltd by the date specified by Workbox Music Ltd otherwise the Student will not be so entered for the same. 

11.      Termination of tuition

(a)     This Agreement may be ended by mutual consent at any time by both parties signing and dating a written statement to that effect.

(b)     Where fees are not paid on time, the Teacher and Workbox Music Ltd. reserves the right to terminate tuition with immediate effect by giving written notice of termination to the Student or Student’s parent or carer, as applicable. This decision is entirely at the discretion of The Teacher and Workbox Music Ltd., This right to terminate is without prejudice to any other rights that the Teacher and Workbox Music Ltd. may have.

(c)     Either the Teacher, Workbox Music Ltd. or the student (or student’s parent or carer as applicable) may terminate this Agreement by giving notice in writing. Such termination will take effect immediately, except that if a lesson is scheduled to take place within 48 hours of notice being given by the Student or the Student’s parent or carer, as applicable, that lesson must be paid for and if Workbox Music Ltd has given such notice such lesson will still take place unless the Student or parent/carer opt for such lesson not to take place.

12.       Conduct

If the Teacher or Workbox Music Ltd., in his, her or their reasonable opinion, feels unable to continue tuition on account of unreasonable conduct by the Student or anyone connected with the Student, the fees for any outstanding lessons will not be refundable.

13.      Communication

For the purposes of all the Conditions, written notice may be given on paper, by email, by SMS text message, provided that, in the case of an SMS text message, the recipient acknowledges receipt of the text.

14.      Changes

(a)     Any changes to the terms of the tuition agreement must be confirmed in writing and agreed upon by the Teacher, Workbox Music Ltd. and the Student (or the Student’s parent or carer as applicable). Changes will be reflected on this Terms and Conditions page which is accessible on the Workbox Music website or through the online booking system at the time of booking.

(b)     If Workbox Music Ltd. chooses to waive any right or remedy under this Agreement or otherwise (for example, if Workbox Music Ltd. chooses to waive fees for any lessons which the Student does not attend) this shall not mean that Workbox Music Ltd. must do so in future or that Workbox Music Ltd. waives any other rights or remedies, unless agreed in writing in accordance with Condition 11(a) above.

14.      Governing law and jurisdiction

This agreement shall be subject to the laws of the jurisdiction of the location for the lessons (specified above) and both parties to this Agreement agree that any dispute relating to the subject matter of this Agreement shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of that jurisdiction.
